Union des Conservateurs d'Aquariums
The Union of Aquarium Curators (UCA) is a non-profit association (under the French Law of 1901) officially created in 1987. It brings together the managers—most of whom hold professional certifications—of a large number of French aquariums, across all types of structures.
Every year, curators meet at one of the association's facilities. Discussions cover many topics, such as scientific and cultural outreach and the role of public aquariums in scientific programs related to aquatic environments.
Acting as a bridge between the public and marine professionals, public aquariums have the mission of sharing knowledge within an engaging environment for all visitors. In the current context of climate change, this role of communication and education is particularly important, contributing to a better understanding of human impacts on the environment.
